Canadian Arts and Culture Participation Data Sources

Go to Hart’s Industry Information page and click on International Data to see a list of links to good data sources regarding Canadian participation, spending, and employment in the arts and cultural activities. Hart put this together as part of the research for the Artists & Art Materials 2012 Study Market Summary, available in October 2012 from NAMTA.

Note there are only a couple sources listed here (“Canada – Ontario Arts Engagement Study 2011” and “Canadian Patterns in Cultural Consumption and Participation 1998”) that provide any data specific to fine art painting and drawing or crafts. The Canadian Census’s General Social Survey discontinued tracking of participation in fine art and crafts after 1998.
